I survived Halloween.....um, just barely
We had set up some static props, (unmoving) and the two graveyards prior to Halloween, but a few days before, storms started coming in. So we spent a few days repairing wind damaged tombstones, and graveyard fencing. Then the day before Halloween, we had to take it back down because of strong rain and 40-60 mph wind gusts! We get up early Halloween morning and start all over. We had two graveyards and approximately 20 animatronics, but they were in "themes" like we had Frankenstein by the Mad Scientist, etc. Anyways, it was alot of work getting it all set up , with cords and lights and adding all the static props back to the scenes. We got done around 3 or so and I had to start putting makeup on everyone, including myself. Masks are suffocating. THEN.......come the trick or treaters and we're out there standing and scaring and handing out candy til a little after 9 pm. We still can't go relax, because now we have to haul all the stuff back into the garage! It would get stolen if we left the animatronics outside, I'm sure. Then for the next two days, we were cleaning and repacking and organizing all the stuff. OMG it really kicked my ass this year! When I finallly got in bed around 11:30 that night, my legs and feet were throbbing so bad I couldn't even fall asleep for awhile and I'd been up since 4 am! It's made me rethink the size of our haunt. I told my husband we may have to downsize it. He didn't argue. We'll see what happens next year, cuz I have a whole year to rest up!!

Can you believe we're already in November?? OMG time just zips on by doesn't it?

I've got to figure out what project I want to do over the winter. I think I'm gonna redo my laundry room. It's got crappy old tile in there and I hate it. I'm thinking I'm gonna cheat and put down 24 x 24 inch carpet tiles. Yep, I said it, carpet tiles It's too labor extensive to remove the tile, and I don't think alot of other people would be a fan of carpet tiles in the laundry room, so why would I spend money to remove tile when I can just put down carpet tiles that can easily be removed if needed and the hard tile is still in place. But I do want all of the baseboard replaced. It's skinny icky baseboard and I want to put in the taller more modern stuff. And I think I want to find some kind of cabinet that I can install in the center of the washer and the dryer. Right now, they sit with space on either side of them and the center of them. I hate that. Decisions, Decisions Eventually I'd like to redo my stairs. Put up wrought iron spindles and removing the carpet and making them wood. But that is a very labor intensive project.

I think the Halloween stress gave my dog the poops..........
She eats everything, and what I mean is that she has "pica" which is eating even non food items, but I keep a good eye on her and I didn't notice her eating anything she wasn't supposed to, but the day after halloween, she got the poops. I think she got stressed out from all the noise and confusion, hey, so did I!! But I've been feeding her boiled skinless chicken and white rice for two days now and I think we've got the poops under control. I swear, people would laugh if they knew how happy I get when my dogs turds look perfect My first dog, Maddie, when I got her she was a puppy and I'd never had a dog before. And I fed her bologna, roast beef, hot dogs, you name it and I gave it to her. Long story short, she got the poops. I took her to the vet and she was dehydrated and not feeling good at all. The vet explained to me that you shouldn't do that and that it can make them super sick, which I found out. So ever since that happened, I've been careful what my dogs eat. But the dog I have now, has "pica" so it's not just food she eats, it's ribbons, carpet, basseboard, plastic you name it and she'll try and eat it. BUT, I didn't notice her eating anything she shouldn't have, so I think she got the poops from Halloween.

Now we're heading into the holidays.......and then it'll be 2025! OMG!!
I don't have any big resolutions or plans for next year. I'm just a play it day by day person I guess

Did everyone survive Thanksgiving?

We had a really nice day yesterday. We usually host and kids and grandkids come over. I think we're lucky, we've never had to worry about family arguing. We play games, and eat and everyone seems to have a good time. I cook everything, I don't ask anyone to bring anything. I prefer it that way. But I started cooking the day before and made 2 of the 3 pies on Wednesday; Chocolate and Pumpkin. The third pie was a cheat, Apple, that I bought frozen at the store I've never made an apple pie in my life. I can cook, but baking isn't my thing. The problem is that I dump and pour when I cook. I don't measure at all. And you can't do that when you bake. Desserts aren't very forgiving

Now I get to enjoy a couple of days of leftovers and not having to cook

I don't eat the turkey or ham, I had both this year. The older I get, the more I'm not liking meat. I never was a big meat eater anyways, but anymore I just can't stand it. Probably not a bad thing.

Well, BIG NEWS! I finished my novel. But OMG! It's 115K words. Which is waaaaaaaaaaaay too big for a first time novel. I need to trim it down to about 95K which is still a little long for the horror genre, but I doubt I can trim it further. I'm going through and removing unnecessary sentences that don't move the story along, and removing the word "that" which I typed in my manuscript 1358 times! In short, I'm doing my own copyediting. I'm really hoping to get it polished up and published.

And I've decided I need to trim down some. I'm 63 and just not happy with my weight. I'm doing it the old fashioned way, as I'm not interested in the new weight loss drugs. I've never been a person who liked taking medications, and just can't see myself using those drugs. So it's the old fashioned way of portion control........with a side of calorie counting. But I'm not trying to starve and go anorexic or anything. My goal is a year.

Next year we'll discuss the results

Who's ready for Christmas??
eh, not me. Well I guess I kinda am, I have gifts bought, but that's about it. Not sure what I'm doing for Christmas dinner yet. I hosted Thanksgiving, and usually host Christmas too. I'll decide soon I guess

I decided on a winter DIY house improvement project. We're gonna redo my laundry room. I think the tiles on the floor have been there for over 35 years and they are so out of date. Besides being ugly! I already got my new flooring and we're gonna replace the baseboards to the more modern taller ones, and I'm looking for a built in cabinet we can install to give more storage in the room. It's kind of a weird shape, like a sideways capital L. So I have to be careful of where I put cabinets because there are TWO doors in that little room. One into the garage and one into my main living room. They both swing INWARD. But I'll figure something out. I'm psyching myself up to tackle the staircase eventually. I'd like to remove the carpet and have wood floors and new railings put up. Not necessarily the metal ones, I think this house is the wrong style for those. Ok, enough about home improvement........lol

I'm still in the process of copyediting my manuscript. I've deleted over 6,000 words so far. Pretty good I think. My goal is to get the word count down to 95K from 115k.

It's cold today. I hate the cold! And it's only the beginning of December. I heard on the news the other day that we have a good chance of having another ice storm like we had in 2021 this next Jan or Feb. Back in 2021 we didn't have any power for a week! No heater, no tv, no anything. Our car froze to the parkin lot in ICE. Nobody could get around. Water lines broke all over the place. I think people even died. We were looking into getting a small portable generator for just in case but probably won't. They are expensive and to buy it on the off chance that maybe, just maybe you might have to use it. I'm not feeling the vibe I don't know, maybe we will, and we could at least plug in a space heater. We have a fireplace but won't ever use it, I don't think they're very safe. I'd hate to burn the house down with the fireplace.
I just put on my sweater and turned the heater up cuz I really got cold

OMG! I had the strangest dream the other night. I dreamt.............um, wait, maybe I shouldn't tell you, cuz it's weird as fuck! Eh, whatever. I'll tell ya So I dreamt I was a Spider! Happy New Years!

I woke up this morning and turned on the news, and OMG! A terrorist? attack in New Orleans early this morning. A truck plowed down people and possibly was shooting at them too! Driver is dead. The store was really crowded, but the lines weren't too long for some reason. We just had to park out in the twilight zone area of the parking lot and it was UPHILL pushing a basket full of stuff we just couldn't live without for another day
