Christmas Trees....
I thought I would ask the charms and fans.... how many Christmas or Holiday trees they put up? My granddaughters and I just put up our 11th tree today. I am guardian for two lovely girls, while their mother is overseas studying the effects of global warming.. They call me grand dad or pops...Their mother asked me to be their guardian until 2022, rather than her own scatterbrained mother... who I dated for several years...
Well we have our main 12 ft tree, and the Christmas Wishes Tree in the bay window. Each girl desired their own tree this year...so one has a pink tree, and the other a purple that are 3 ft. They each have a cat and decided each cat needed a tree as well...So tiny 1 ft trees where they lay treats each morning for the felines. We have two large trees outside that get decorated. Then last year we put up white lights on two Japanese Cranberry trees, filled with suet and things birdies like. Which also attracts squirrels and chipmunks. So today we put up our 11th tree for the squirrels. Since I have been homeschooling them... this was part of their science and nature studies...or so they told me.
In 2001 I lost someone who I consider the love of my life. She had this 3-4ft tree that even then had seen better days. Every year since I light it on Christmas Eve and a single white or red candle, in belief that our loved ones can and do return to visit us on that magical night. The girls call it a Christmas Wish Tree, so we now each make a list of people special to us and a wish for them, and place it under the tree. I wrote this little piece and always place it on the tree....On Christmas Eve.
Brush the floor and clean the hearth,
And set the fire to keep,
For they might visit us tonight
When all the world's asleep.
Don't blow the tall white candle out
But leave it burning bright,
So that they'll know they're welcome here
This holy Christmas night.
Leave the door upon the latch,
And set the fire to keep,
And pray they'll rest with us tonight
When all the world's asleep.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas... one that is filled with love, happiness and merriment.

I have 6 trees. Livingroom, 2 kids rooms, my room and 2 at my office/play place.
There is nothing better... when u awake tour own tree every morning. Sometimes in December there may be a gift under it, not just at Christmas.

Re: Christmas Trees....
Thank you for this! It was very touching! This will be the third Christmas without my dad and this sounds like a great way to honor those we've lost. I just put up one tree, but I make a big ordeal out of it. My mom and dad downsized years ago to a small one that unrolls that hangs on the wall. I would never try to put up a different over there. We just pile presents on the floor under it! lol.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Christmas Trees....
Loved reading your verses.
Yes, our loved ones are always with us.
This year, we bought a real natural Christmas tree. It happened after several years of using / reusing plastic trees, one big and a couple small.
But this year, we wished to have only one and real. Bought it early last week and placed it in the living, naked, no decos, just a bowl of water under to help against dryness.
Then Saturday came our two daughters from the city to decorate and to have an early Christmas Eve dinner, presents included. This because they can't visit tomorrow, duty calling. But they promised to come for lunch on Christmas Day.
Now we're in some fantastic [mini-week between] Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
All love to you and yours!!

Re: Christmas Trees....
i too lost my dad, but it was several yrs ago
he and i would do the tree together every xmas eve.
so since he is gone
i just am alone thinking on him
i run through all the memories of us
and talk to him aloud too.
....so many loved ones out there in the universe
hearing us praise them ,honor them and love them year after year

Re: Christmas Trees....
This year we only have one tree as the grandchildren can not come down It is outside on the balcony so all the neighbours can see it. Normally we would have one in doors as well.
