Sad Day - COVID Reality
This morning, my son in laws mother passed away, from Covid. She had been sick since Thanksgiving.
This afternoon, my Uncle passed away, from Covid. I had to tell my father, who's in a nursing home with alzheimers, that his last living brother has died. And I can't be there to comfort him. My Uncle was housebound, and his three sons, who thought they only had colds but are now covid positive, apparently passed it to him. Infecting their elderly father.
I have 4 Cousins and an elderly Aunt, currently sick with Covid.
It's getting closer.......and scarier.

My heart felt condolences to you and your extended families over the loss of your loved ones, kind lady. Know that those we love are never gone from us even in death. They continue to to be part of us in every thought, every action, and every choice we make. Our loved ones leave an imprint of their love for us, in our hearts and on our souls forever.

Re: Sad Day - COVID Reality
Serena, I'm so sorry for your losses. It's especially hard around the holidays when we're missing all those we wish we could hold close.
I lost my Grandfather to COVID earlier this month, and a close friend's Dad the month before, both very suddenly, within a week of getting sick. My husband lost his uncle over the Summer. He suffered in the hospital, alone, for two months before he passed. I haven't been myself this month. I mostly keep to myself when I'm hurting, and keep myself busy as a defense mechanism. It's hard to share stuff so personal here, but it's nice to be reminded that we support each other like family on SC. That's part of the reason I love it here so much.
Counting my blessings is what keeps me going these days, and Serena, you are one of them! I'm thankful for you, and thankful for the spark you bring to the forum. Sending you a big socially distanced hug from afar.

Im so sorry to hear your news.
My friend lost his mother a month ago to Covid. I have family who have been infected midly with it.
In the UK we are about to embark i believe on a national lockdown again. Its spreading like wildfire here.
Stay safe and healthy.
Make sure you take care of yourself at such a difficult time for you and your family

Re: Sad Day - COVID Reality
Thanks to everyone who left such sweet messages and heartfelt condolences and socially distant hugs
And I am so sorry to hear about everyone's losses....
This virus is a bitch. And the suffering it causes is almost impossible to accept.
My cousins are on the mend, but my aunt has now been hospitalized for a week. So far no new family members have come down with it. But I worry constantly. My daughter and son in law and my granddaughter are out in the world, working their jobs.......it's just scary.
I'm on the registered list for Dallas County to get the vaccination (I have preexisting health issues that allow me to be in group 1B) but it's still most likely going to be a long wait. My grandmother is 99 1/2 years old, and she's on a waitlist too. My husband and I take great precautions and mostly stay in our apartment. When we run errands, it's usually only checking on my grandma or going through a fast food drive thru. I haven't been in a store to shop for 10 months now. I haven't seen my dad, who's in the nursing home since March 11.
It's so sad that the elderly in nursing homes are so alone now. My dad doesn't understand.
Window visits are allowed, but my dad says they are "assanine"........and doesn't want to do them.

Re: Sad Day - COVID Reality
I cannot believe that a US Senator who is a doctor said on national TV Friday night that, people should throw their masks away for they are useless. How callous, careless, ignorant can someone be? I mask up as soon as I leave the house, and make the girls do as well. We still shop for anyone that wants or needs us too. Well providing they wear masks and distance with us. So far we have steered clear of anyone who has gotten the virus in our immediate circle. Sadly we know now about two dozens folks who have gotten ill and several who have died. A cousin of mine passed away a week ago. One of the meds they were giving him caused blood clots to form, and when they gave him blood thinners, he started bleeding inside and never recovered. A relative of the girls passed away about six weeks ago, he and his wife had managed to stay away from people, but the daughter stopped by with her husband the night before Thanksgiving to see them, and unknown to any of them the daughter had picked up the virus from her husband and gave it to her parents with her father dying. the daughter is distraught feeling she killed her father.
I hope everyone stays safe and does not take chances, especially foolish unnecessary chances. On New Year's Eve it was announce a local funeral director's 90+ year old parents had died. His wife, who does the hair of the deceased in their funeral homes, also had done the hair of close friends but stopped when this all hit the fan. Some lady who she had been friends with begged her to come to her home and do her hair...or she would not be able to go to Christmas Eve Mass. She did, and caught the virus from the ladies son who greeted her. She then returned home and gave it to her husband who gave it to his parents, who both died they day before New Years Eve.....
Stay safe folks....especially those of you under lockdown or strict conditions,,,,,

Re: Sad Day - COVID Reality
Sorry for your loss. IT is so sad. I lost an Uncle just after Thanksgiving and an Uncle on Christmas night. The worst part is not being able to see them in the last days of their lives and knowing they had to spend it alone. That is what breaks my heart the most. Hugs doll.
